Knit and Crochet Shawls

I am so lazy to blog nowadays. I spent most of my time in Ravelry browsing around to get inspiration. Lately, I am into making shawl, both knit and crochet. I realized that so many knit patterns available and most of them is gorgeous. Even the free pattern is super beautiful. My favorite is Haruni Shawl (Ravelry link). Isn't this gorgeous?

Crochet shawls are more limited and I am having difficulty to find something that I like. Even the pay patterns are not up to my liking. I even find some easy and basic pattern crochet shawl that is not free. Like this Milk and Cookies shawl for example, the stitch pattern is simple and the color combination is not my favorite and yet we have to pay $5 for the pattern. Well, of course this is only my opinion, other people probably thinking different than mine.

Knitted Blanket

Love this color combination. Orange and yellow are my favorite colors. I made several crocheted blanket before, but I haven't tried my hand to knit a blanket. To think that I have to knit something big and square really intimidate me, but it's in my "to do list". Although I am not sure when I will tackle it.

Variegated Vs Solid

Normally I don’t like to knit using variegated yarn. I like solid color. However, I love the one in this photo although it is knitted using variegated yarn. Actually, if you have hand-dyed yarn, I suggest you to use it to knit something like in this photo. This cardigan is simple yet elegant with lace details in the bottom suitable to showcase your treasure hand-dyed yarn (if you have any).

Ruffles

I don't know about other people, but I love ruffles. Ruffles makes me feel feminine and pretty. I really like the cardigan in this picture. I love the ruffles along the edge and also love the flair on the sleeves. I will make something like this someday. Not exactly the same as I don't have the pattern for the one in the picture, but something similar.

Summer Top

I love lacy top for summer. This particular top looks elegant enough to wear even for a party with correct accessories. Did I tell you before that I love empire waist top. You look slimmer wearing it since it accentuate your smallest part of the body. I know some people hate empire waist, but somehow it looks good on me :)



This particular top is easy to make. I think it also has no shaping. The shaping is provided by the ribbon. I didn't see armhole shaping either. If you put it flat, probably it's just a T shape.



One think I don't like is that the shoulder will easily drop off. You can see in the model there, that one of the shoulder almost drop off.

Strawberry Sweater for Kids

I found this adorable sweater for little girl. It has a matching purse as well. The frog closure, stripes and colorwork all make for a fun project, and it may help you look forward to spring a bit! A lot of people complain why size 5 is not included in the set. I also use that size very often. Although I am Addi lover, I think I will wait how is the overall response first before I bought it.

Gallery

When the first time I saw this cardigan in Interwave Knit magazine, I think that this cardigan looks too big on the model and doesn’t fit her nicely. However, I did not know for sure whether this cardigan will look nicer on bigger size body, until I found out that in the Knitting Daily, there is a section called Gallery, where they put the same sample cardigan to different sizes and different postures women. Like you can see the photos below:

Knitted Gift Bag

If you want your presents look different from the others, then you should make this gift bag. This is great for stash buster as you can use your leftover yarn to make this bag. Another idea is to make several of these, put candies inside or other knick knack and hang them on the Christmas tree.

Nice Lacy Cardigan

I forgot to mention about this Cardigan. It's called "Hey Teach" and you can find the pattern free at Knitty Summer 08 edition.

I love this cardigan because the fact that I can wear it with crisp white shirt like in the photo. I think it's a great idea, although you can also wear it with black camisole for totally different look.

Cardigan With Wrap

Have you seen Knitty Winter 2008? Which patterns are your favorites? Mine was the cardigan called Surface. It comes with a wrap. Although I am not a big fan of bobbles but this cardigan looks elegant to me. It’s perfect for winter. I can imagine myself wearing this. I will put this one on my (long) list.

Detachable Sleeves

Another pattern that I like from Knitty Winter 08 is this sweater with detachable sleeves called Camden. I don't care much about the bobbles, but I think the detachable sleeves is kind of cool. You can remove the sleeves at summer or spring or if you want to wear it with white crisp shirt with long sleeve to get the layered look, or you can attach the sleeves to get the cool look like the picture. What do you think?

Another Flare Sweater

Have I told you that I love flare type of sweater? It's flatering and it hides your bulging tummy so you can eat as much as you can :) Plus, if you are pregnant, it serves you as a maternity dress as well.

In this example, I love the two pocket as well as I can always put my lipgloss and some tissue in them. I am not sure about the neckline though. I don't have broad shoulder, so probably if I make this one, I will make it narrower.

My First Shawl

This was my first shawl KIRI. I made this one using DMC cotton thread, which was a wrong choice of yarn. I should use wool yarn insead. I read somewhere that we can not block nicely using cotton yarn because cotton cannot stretch.

Versatility Shawl

I saw this pattern in Knitty Fall 08 edition and quite amazed by the versatility. Versatility is also the name of this pattern. You can wear it many ways, as a shawl, shrug, cardigan, or bolero. Very clever eh? But to tell you the truth I don’t really like the motifs in that shawl. I don’t like bobbles. Not only it’s difficult to make bobbles, but I also don’t like the looks. Probably I will make something like this but with different motifs.

Purple Flare Cardigan

This is a type of cardigan that I want to make someday. I like flare cardigan or flare top. I can eat as much as I want without afraid that my bulging tummy will show. Hahahaha!

You can pair it with black skirt or just a pair of jeans for casual look. I like the purple color, but somehow I don't look good wearing purple. It makes me look darker.

Black Kniting Top

This top is very simple and easy to make. I love black color top, because it makes you look slimmer. The problem is that I don't like to work with black yarn. It tires my eyes very easily.

Actually I have a certain design in my mind that looks good in black. If I want to make it, I think I need to find a suitable black yarn.

Knitted Shawl With Turtle

I saw this scarf on Crafster quite a long time ago. I am not a type that likes to knit a scarf or a shawl. However, after seeing this one I would like to make one. I think the turtle pattern can be found for free somewhere, but I could not find it at this moment. I will add the link later when I got it.

The thing is, I got 3 balls of green yarn made of alpaca and tencel. I think I am going to use that yarn into this. Someday…..

Cardigan in Victoria Secret

My friend told me about this cardigan. She saw it on Victoria Secret Catalog only for $88. It's made of acrylic and wool. According to my estimation, this cardigan needs about 8 x 50 gram of yarn. If each yarn cost $4, then the material alone is already $32,-

I don't think I want to knit this for only $56,- Then again probably this is machine knit and not handknit.

Lace Needle

Finally, I got the opportunity to use this needle to make lace. Now, I really like it. The pointy needle is very good to make all the manuver of k2tog or k3tog, and the brass finishing makes it not really slippery, which is very good. Because when you make lace project you don't want to drop any stitches.
