Question About CEIVA

I know that some of you are probably sick and tired of reading my ravings about CEIVA digital photo frame, but I received an email asking me about CEIVA. The sender intends to buy this digital photo frame for her parents. The problem is that her parents are not living in the US and she is wondering if CEIVA can still receive the photos outside of the US.

I think that by now all of you know that that Digital Photo Frame is different from other digital photo frames. This particular photo frame can receive automatic photo updates from friends and family from around the world. With PicturePlan, your CEIVA frame connects to your existing phone line and automatically makes a silent call in the middle of the night (without any interruption or charge to your phone service) to pick up all the photos that were sent to you by family and friends. In the morning, new photos appear automatically. No computer is required to receive new photos. Optionally, you can connect via a broadband or wireless network.

The answer to the question above is. you can send photos to a CEIVA frame from anywhere in the world but the frame does have to reside in the United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada or Puerto Rico.

Amazing Patchwork

Hard to believe that the picture behind these 3 ladies is a patchwork, but it’s true. It looks like painting to me. This patchwork is called Seasonal Sisters and made by Gail Thomas, Annette M. Hendricks and Helen Godden. They are the winner of the A World of Beauty Award of $7,500 at the International Quilt Association's competition in Houston, Texas.

Avoid Bankruptcy

I don’t like to use credit card or to take a bank loan because I don’t like to have debt. I tried to pay everything by cash. I know it’s impossible to buy car or house by cash, but having debts make me nervous. What if I lost my job? What if I can not pay my debt? Do I have to declare bankruptcy? All these questions popped out in my mind.

However, today I learn that if you are having too much debt and trying to Avoid Bankruptcy you could apply for IVA or Individual Voluntary Arrangement. IVA is a formal and legally binding agreement between you and your creditors. The terms of your proposal to creditors may vary however creditors will expect that their prospects of recovering money will be at least as good as in bankruptcy. If your ClearDebt IVA application is approved, up to 70% of all your debts could be written off. You would pay no interest and you could be debt free in 5 years or less.

I find this site is very usefull. They have so many informations on how to manage your debts. You can even join their forum and discuss things with the other members.

Navy Inspired

This is another Kenzo's design. Although I like this crocheted dress, but I don't like the color. I cannot help think that this will look nicer using single color. The stripes is still OK, but the one in the body is really distracting. It doesn't blend in nicely.

How to Clean Your Crochet Hook

Have you ever clean your crochet hook? I am guilty of have never cleaned my crochet hooks. The reason is because all of my needles are still in a very good condition. Still it’s worth to know how to clean our hook, in case we need to clean them.

A great way to clean steel crochet hooks is to soak them in rubbing alcohol from time to time and dry them with a soft cloth. They'll sparkle and give you a smoother stitching experience.
No crocheter's workbasket should be without a little block of beeswax, which is available at sewing-notion counters nationwide. Beeswax will be your best friend when it comes to keeping your stitching moving smoothly. Try buffing your newly cleaned crochet hooks with beeswax. They'll zip through your crochet work!

Treat your wooden hooks as you would any fine furniture: don't use water! Clean them with wood oil, and buff them with beeswax to keep the wood well-protected. Over time, wooden hooks will take on a satiny patina if they are cared for properly. This also will improve their performance and preserve them.

Due to the nature of a wooden hook, if it's not made correctly or cared for properly, a wood hook will sometimes split or snag your yarn. In this case, sand the hook carefully with superfine (360-600 grit) sandpaper, steel wool or the fine side of an emery board until it is smooth. Then, apply a coat of paste wax and polish, or you might apply one or two coats of clear varnish, sanding lightly between coats.

Care for bone hooks as you would plastic hooks, but never soak them in a soapy solution. Just clean them gently with a wet cloth, dry thoroughly and then given them a good buffing with beeswax to keep them from drying out.

Keeping your crochet hooks cleaned and preserved is important, and so is storing them safely. Never throw your unprotected hooks in with the rest of your supplies. Keep them protected in a case made for the purpose, or wrap them in felt -- whatever works for you.

Good Lawyer

One of my favorite TV shows is Boston Legal. I like that show because the lawyers in that movie were always defend their client all the way in a very smart way. This kind of shows make me thinking that when you are in trouble, get a good lawyer.

The other day, I come across Los Angeles Criminal and DUI Defense Attorneys site. They stated there that if you are facing criminal charges, don’t talk to the police first. Instead, talk to them. Well, I kind of agree with them, because sometimes when you are nervous or afraid, you don’t think or realized with what you say, and it could be used against you.

When the stakes are high and you're facing criminal charges, you need Criminal Defense Lawyers with experience, who are available to take your case quickly and confidently, who will go the extra mile to thoroughly investigate your case, and who get the best possible result in or out of court.

Los Angeles Criminal and DUI Defense Attorneys at Kestenbaum Eisner & Gorin LLP understand that being arrested or charged with a crime is frightening experience. Their law firm’s mission is to aggressively and tenaciously defend their clients, even before the case reaches the courtroom. You need to know your rights under the law, and immediately act to protect them.

Aluminum or Plastic?

There are so many crochet hooks in the market. Most of them are made of aluminum or plastic. Which one is better?

Aluminum hooks are strong, lightweight and smooth. They don't bend or snag the yarn. Aluminum hooks can also become pitted over time from being dropped or stored carelessly. A snag on the hook will cause your yarn to pull and separate as you crochet. If your hook begins to snag your yarn, but you can't see or feel any surface damage on your aluminum hook, try passing a piece of nylon stocking or another silky fabric over the end of the hook; the slightest imperfection will snag the fabric. Never try to correct the problem by sanding the aluminum hook. Discard it and get a new one.

Overall, aluminum hooks are the better choice, even though they cost a little more. You'll find that in the long run, they are by far the most economical choice between the two. Being thrifty is wonderful, but most times, you get what you pay for. Always try to use the finest materials and tools your crafting budget will allow.

Knitted Gift Bag

If you want your presents look different from the others, then you should make this gift bag. This is great for stash buster as you can use your leftover yarn to make this bag. Another idea is to make several of these, put candies inside or other knick knack and hang them on the Christmas tree.

Personalized Search Homepage

The internet is the best invention in the history, well according to me anyway. One can do a lot of things on the internet, such as chatting, shopping and blogging. You can even search for any information that you want to know with just a single click. I do a lot of searching on the internet and sometimes get I get bored with the view of my search homepage.

Today, I found out that you can personalize your search homepage. In order to do that you can go to the Shiny Search site. Once there, you can choose from a variety of custom skins and any style that you like. There are many styles to choose from like the Ninja Skull theme for boys and sun flower theme for girls to name a few. They even have kids, Christian, and gothic themes. Once you have selected your favorite style, you can add your name. After you are satisfied with your selection, then you click the “create custom search homepage” button. It’s simple and easy. I spent more than 15 minutes trying out different themes at Shiny Search. It was fun to discover all those interesting themes. In fact, I plan to change my theme every week.

If you want to have your own personalized search homepage, go to ShinySearch.com and be ready to have some fun with it.

Too Much Surfing

How many hours a day you spend your time surfing in the internet? I know that I spent too many hours until I neglecting my own project. I am having too much fun reading other people’s blog and admiring their projects. Like today, I spent more than 2 hours surfing in the internet. Because of that, I didn’t have time to touch my own project. I think I have to stop doing it, otherwise I really don’t have FO to show here.

Dancing Game

Are you a Coke fan? I am not a fanatic fan of Coke although I always order Coke whenever I eat in the fast food restaurant. Anyway, if you want to have fun you should try a game called Coke Zero’s Dance Hero. It promises to bring a refreshing bit of fun to your day. This is actually a Canadian promo, but anybody can play. I am not an expert in dancing, but I can surely play this dancing game. It’s fun and addictive just like Coke. Just make sure you don’t play this while you are in the office, because everybody will start to play the game and your boss won’t be happy about it (unless, he is a Coke fan LOL).

Made famous by the international Coke Zero commercials on television, the tongue and eyeball mascots go head-to-head in a seriously delicious dance off! Who’s got the best finishing move? Find out when you play!

Simply click on the circles in numerical order, and when you see a curved line, follow it along with your mouse. Of course, it helps if you pay attention to the beat and the animation of the circles.

Challenge a friend to get your name on the leaderboard. There are no Coke Coins needed to play!

Crochet by Kenzo

This is designed by Kenzo. Very artistic and looks complicated. I have collection of Japanese pattern books and one of the patterns is similar to this. Although I would like to attempt to make, somehow I still haven’t got the courage yet. This pattern consists of many small different motifs that you have to make separately. Then once you have made all the motifs, you have to join them. I just afraid that I make the size wrongly and only find it out when I have joined the whole thing. Then I will waste all my efforts.

Who Called You?

Recently I got so many missed calls on my phone. When I saw the numbers, they don’t seem familiar. It could be telemarketers that trying to sell something over the phone, but it could be my old friends trying to call me. The reason why I think that way is because recently I managed to get some of my old friends’ email address from my best friend. I emailed them and I also included my phone number. So far I haven’t got any reply yet.

Anyway, I learn that there is a service called Reverse Phone Numbers where we can actually look up for landlines, cell phone numbers, unlisted phone numbers, and more.

What sets BestReversePhone.org lookup service apart from the rest is the fact that they can look up not only landlines phone number but also cell phone and unlisted phone numbers.
Their reverse phone listings cover not only the new up to date numbers you would find in a phonebook, but also outdated numbers, ones that could be 5 to 10 years old! All you have to do is to enter the number into their reverse lookup database and they will generate all new information for you!

If you want to find out what other services they provide, you can click on the link and find out more about them.

Nice Lacy Cardigan

I forgot to mention about this Cardigan. It's called "Hey Teach" and you can find the pattern free at Knitty Summer 08 edition.

I love this cardigan because the fact that I can wear it with crisp white shirt like in the photo. I think it's a great idea, although you can also wear it with black camisole for totally different look.

Good Movie With Message

I love to knit while I am watching TV, especially when I reach the boring part of the project, like making the other part of sleeves. If you have the same hobby as mine, you probably know what I meant.

Anyway, normally on weekends my family which consists of my husband and 2 daughters have a family “movie time”. We select a movie that is suitable for my 2 daughters to watch, normally a movie that has good messages. I will make popcorn and make fresh orange juice to enjoy while we are watching the movie.

Recently, I read a good review about the movie All Roads Lead Home The Movie. This movie won best feature drama at the International Family Film Festival, so it should be a good movie to watch. The DVD will be released on the 13th of January, but you can pre-order it now in their website.

The story is about a 10-year old girl (Belle) who loses her mother in an automobile accident. Her father (Cody) struggles with the loss of his wife and is trying to raise a young girl who believes her father is partly responsible for her mother's death. Hock, Belle's maternal grandfather, has trouble communicating with Belle after the accident because she reminds him too much of her mother. It is Atticus the new puppy that will change Belle's life and everyone else's around her.

You can watch the trailer below.

White Crocheted Bolero

II think every woman needs to have a bolero in their wardrobe. Boleros are very versatile. You can wear it on cold nights or in an aircond room. You can simply wear it on top of the clothes that you wear to have a layers look that is so “in” nowadays. If you wear something strapless to the party, you can also bring the bolero along in case the ballroom is too cold for you.

Crocheted Swimwear

WOW! I don' think I can wear this LOL! I think only those people with great body that can wear this. I am not sure whether you can wear this to swim though.

Anyway, this photo is to prove that crochet is not only for grandma. Even a diva like J. Lo also wear one. LOL!

Saving on Drugs

Every month I have to spend quite a lot on prescription medicine. My husband suffers from high blood pressure and he needs to take medicine everyday. Thus, I can not tell you how happy I am to find out that I can use the NuLegacy Rx Card to receive discounts on all FDA approved drugs at over 56,000 pharmacies nationwide.

This will be the easiest and fastest way to save money on prescription drugs. All I have to do to get the discount is to print my card in their website www.FreeRxCard.me and show it to the pharmacies I go to like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Albertsons, or Walgreens. Besides the big national pharmacy chains, many independent pharmacies are also participating. All you have to do is call them and ask.

I know that some of you probably do not believe that it will be that easy and wondering whether any of your personal information is needed. The answer is NO. I can guarantee that no personal information is needed to generate a Free Pharmacy Card. Just go to the website and click on GET CARD NOW and you will receive your Free Rx Card. No deductibles, no waiting periods, no pre-existing exclusions. EVERYONE qualifies!

Elegant Dress

I wish I can tell you that I know how to make this. But the reality is I can not. It looks complicated. All I can say is that it consists of several pieces and sewed together. The colar and the sleeves are knitted. Even I am able to crochet this, I am not sure I got the figure to pull it off.

Educational Site

More and more people opt to study online because of the time and venue flexibility. You can access it from anywhere and anytime you like it. Some people like to study in the morning, but some people like it best at night. The advantage of learning from online is that you're not tied to a class schedule. Another advantage is that all documents, transcripts, live discussions and training materials are all archived and recorded so that they can be retrieved via mail, e-mail or the website for reading, downloading, and printing.

Like this educational site called Brightstorm that I found recently. They explain many educational subjects with high professionalism, clear presentation but not boring at all. They manage to explain such difficult subject like algebra and geometry with clarity that amazed me. Not only the presenters have good skills to explain things, but they also have fun personality. I wish that this site is available when I was in school.

I definitely bookmark this site so when my children are older I can use this site to teach them or they can learn by themselves. Go check this out yourself and signing up for a free account that gives you access to a free episode in every course. Here is the link for Sign up for a free brightstorm acocunt.

Another Crocheted Blanket

I have a weakness to get excited everytime I see a nice crocheted blanket, esspecially something as nice as like the blanket in this photo. Then I will browse online stores to find perfect yarns for it and I will end up spending more than my allowance. It is fine if I can finish the blanket, because I will use it everyday to bits. The problem is I have another crocheted blanket project that still hasn’t finished yet. So, I guess I have to finish that first before I started another one. Sigh!

About Sharing and More

Do you know that sharing your stuff will double the happiness it brings to you. That is why whenever I managed to finish my craft work, I always got the urge to show it off to other people. There are many places where you can show off your recently finished craft work in the internet, I am a member of them. It always gives me satisfaction to be able to share or discuss about things with other peoples that also share the same passion with me.

Recently, I found another place that makes you able to show off your stuffs (non craft related stuffs). If you recently bought new car, camera, or shoes, don't show it off in the office or class room. The right place for that is acobay.com! Here you share the joy in getting you dreamed stuffs, with the world. You tell the community how much it is, why you like the stuff, or sometimes, why you don't like it. You can even upload photos for your new stuff. The nice thing about acobay is that when you join Acobay and share your stuff, it automatically connects you with other peoples that have the same stuffs like you.

Want to buy something but you are not sure yet? At Acobay you also can find the best stuffs based on rating by thousands of real users or stuffs that are getting hot recently and also reviews and comments on the stuffs that you're interested in.

Japanese Craft Book

One thing I salute about Japanese craft book is that they manage to make the instruction simple and you don't have to understand Japanese character or language to understand it.

For example like these 2 items: a tote and a hat. They even give you the picture how you should cut your cloth to fully utilized it. Isn't it amazing?

Save on Eyeglasses

In the bad economy situation like now, it is adviseable to spend your money wisely. We don’t know what will happen in the future. I try to cut my spending by eat at home most of the time and not eat out as often as used to be.

The other day, my husband was complaining that his eyeglasses’ frame already changed color. I think it’s about time for him to buy new eyeglasses, but I also realized that this meant we have to spend money. Eyeglasses are not cheap and we don’t have that kind of money to spend at this moment, since everything went up in price.

Recently, I found out that you can buy prescribed eyeglasses as low as USD 8 at ZenniOptical.com. They has a wide selection of frames which come with various lenses such as single vision lenses, sunsensor (potochromic) lenses, tinted sunglass lenses, bifocal lenses and progressive lenses. The Shipping and Handling Charge is only a flat USD 4.95 per order, no matter how many glasses you place in the order. The Secret to Zenni’s Low Prices is that they only sell their own manufactured frames direct to the customer, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget.

White Crocheted Dress

I think this design is easy enough to copy. I think it is crocheted from top down. The one thing that I don’t like is that this design is very airy so I need to wear a slip underneath. I saw that there are no increses from the shoulder to the under arm, so it might not comfortable to wear. If I am to crochet this one, I will add increases, since it is real human that is wearing, and not mannequin.

"High Art" T-Shirt

What do you think of this t-shirt? It has 70/30 blend of hemp and organic cotton. The uniqueness lays on the image that printed on the t-shirt. It is actually the image of DNA genetic fingerprint of Cannabis Sativa plant a.k.a marijuana. It is said in the website that they custom burn the image into the fabric for durability. This T-shirt is unisex although modeled by a male. If you are interested to own one of this “high art” you can hop to Mary Jane Goods site. They also carry T-shirt that lists the 652 legal names of Marijuana recognized by law enforcement in a very fine print. So, don’t get surprise if you find everyone will want to read the fine print.

Mary Jane Goods was inspired by Grandmason’s work with the DNA of endangered species.
Early success prompted him to extract the DNA fingerprint of Cannabis Sativa, a plant that for centuries has had a dizzying array of uses: medicinal, spiritual and of course, recreational.

Cardigan With Wrap

Have you seen Knitty Winter 2008? Which patterns are your favorites? Mine was the cardigan called Surface. It comes with a wrap. Although I am not a big fan of bobbles but this cardigan looks elegant to me. It’s perfect for winter. I can imagine myself wearing this. I will put this one on my (long) list.

Wear Different Eyeglasses Everyday

I am lucky that I don’t have to wear glasses up to now (although I probably will have to wear them soon), but most of my family member wear them including my husband. I know how expensive a pair of glasses can be. Even only the frame can cost a fortune not to mention the prescribed lenses.

Normally, people only have 2 prescribed eyeglasses, the one that they wear everyday and another one for spare. Very rare I can find someone with many prescribed glasses. I think it’s due to the price.

However, I found recently that prescribed eyeglasses not necessarily to be expensive. Like the one I found at Optical4Less.com. They offer high quality prescription eyeglasses with decent price ($15 usd). They also include Anti-reflective coating for free. I also saw that they have very wide selection of trendy and stylish frames. With that kind of low price and wide selections, people can wear different eyeglasses everyday. They can match their eyeglasses with their outfit (esspecially for ladies, now they can match their eyeglasses with their shoes and handbag). With this kind of price and the convenience to be able to order online, I am wondering who will still buy eyeglasses from traditional local stores?

Ps: Did I mention that they also offer free worldwide shipping (if you order more than 1 pair)?

Pink Crocheted Dress

Although I like this dress, but I don't think I can wear it. Well, probably I can not make it in the first place. One thing I haven't tried to make is to put lining on my crocheted dress. That is why whenever I made crocheted dress I made sure that I use solid motifs, so it won't see through.

Inmate Search Online

Nowadays, you can almost do anything online. You can even retrieve information about inmate information online. Federal Prison Inmate Locator is just a click away. You can access inmate records as well as inmate license records and all other pertinent vital records. Their archive includes an array of prison inmate records recovered in America. Any record you need, you'll find it very quickly and easily. Whichever state you require inmate records you will get the documentation you require. Discover why thousands already have used and applauded their inmate records archive. It's just a click away!

Broomstick Lace

Isn't this pretty. I saw broomstick lace is used here on the sleeves and some parts of the body. Broomstick lace is a historic crochet technique from the 1800s which is done using a crochet hook and another long slender item such as a knitting needle. It is also known as jiffy lace and peacock eye crochet.

Tactical Pants for Only $4.99!!

If you looking for durable pants for your husband, brother or boy friend, then you should look at 5.11 tactical pants. I bought one pair of these for my husband before and he just loves it. He always wears it whenever he goes fishing because he can put a lot of fishing gadgets and gizmos inside the pocket. I also saw quite a few men wear it on the plane, because you can shove in your ticket, passport and even a bottle of water in the pocket.

I saw an amazing great deal on 5.11 Tactical Response Dress Pants. Original price is $49.99 and not they mark it down to unbelievable $ 4.99! Now, who can resist that.

Prada Crocheted Dress

I can't see quite clearly on this photo, but I think this dress mostly made of double crochet stitches. I love the fit and the lace on the bottom of the dress. I am sure the opening is on the back (probably using a zip).

One thing I know that it is adviseable to put zip or buttons on crocheted dress since crochet is not stretchable like knit. If you don't put any opening, it's almost impossible to put in on.

About Photo Frame

I wanted to update you all that my hubby have received the video that I sent to him a few days back. The video is about my experience “sitting on Santa’s lap”. Well, actually there was a reason why I sent the video to him. It’s because I wanted him to buy the CEIVA digital photo frame for me.

Like I said in my previous post, I am very impressed with CEIVA digital photo frame because it’s not like other digital photo frames. Not only you can insert a memory card to display your personal photos but with CEIVA PicturePlan, you can send your photos from all over the world to your digital frame at home. Since my job demands me to travel quite a lot, I imagine CEIVA will be very useful. I can send all my just taken photos home for my children and hubby to see.
If you want to know how CEIVA works, you can go to here and you can see how the CEIVA digital photo frame works plus you can have fun "sitting on Santa’s lap".

They also organized a sweeptakes with the following rules:

Blue Crocheted Top

I just love this outfit. Who knows that blue and brown is a good combination. Do you notice that the top she wore in the inside was a crocheted one. I don't think it's difficult to make. It's quite simple.

By the way, I like the color of her hair. It's almost matching with the jacket.

Free Mangas to Read

Beside knitting and crocheting, I love to read books and comics. I have extensive collections of books and comics actually. Recently I found out that there is site where you can read manga for free. I even can find some of my favorite mangas like Kung Fu Boy, Dragon Ball and Naruto there.

This site compiles all the mangas alphabetically, thus it is very easy for me to find manga that I want to read, like read bleach. Since all my manga books are still in my parents’ house, I think I can re-read my favorite mangas online. Plus I can knit while reading it online, which I can’t if I have to read from book since the book tends to close by itself.

Crocheted Shawl with Unique Fringe

What do you think of this crocheted shawl? The shawl pattern itself looks simple and ordinary. However, I love the idea of the fringe. It’s different from the normal fringe that I normally see. It’s a very clever idea to make clover motifs as fringe. I think this idea only works if you use DK weight yarn. I don’t think it looks nice if you use tread. Do you agree with me?

Amazing Digital Photo Frame

About 2 months ago I saw in somebody’s blog a review about digital photo frame. I though that digital photo frame is something so usual and nothing special. But my opinion was changed when I learned about CEIVA.

Not only you can insert a memory card to display your personal photos but with CEIVA PicturePlan, you can send your photos from all over the world to your digital frame at home. So imagine that you have to go overseas and your children and hubby at home miss you. With CEIVA, you can send all your just taken photos home for them to see. Cool eh?

If you want to know how CEIVA works, you can click here, and you can see how the CEIVA digital photo frame works plus you can have fun experience to sit on Santa’s lap. In fact I was so impressed that I send the video to my husband (I hope he got the hint! LOL).

They also have organized a sweeptakes. Rules as follows:
- must be 18 years of age to enter sweepstakes

Detachable Sleeves

Another pattern that I like from Knitty Winter 08 is this sweater with detachable sleeves called Camden. I don't care much about the bobbles, but I think the detachable sleeves is kind of cool. You can remove the sleeves at summer or spring or if you want to wear it with white crisp shirt with long sleeve to get the layered look, or you can attach the sleeves to get the cool look like the picture. What do you think?

Memphis Shade

If you still looking for Christmas gift for a special someone and that person owning a motorcycle, then how about giving him a memphis shades. Probably you are wondering what Memphis shade is. Memphis shade is a shield for a motorcycle that provides additional protection. It shields rider from rain, wind and noise coming up from the road. Get it? If not click on the link and you can look at it yourself.

Another Flare Sweater

Have I told you that I love flare type of sweater? It's flatering and it hides your bulging tummy so you can eat as much as you can :) Plus, if you are pregnant, it serves you as a maternity dress as well.

In this example, I love the two pocket as well as I can always put my lipgloss and some tissue in them. I am not sure about the neckline though. I don't have broad shoulder, so probably if I make this one, I will make it narrower.

Memory

Some people like to travel using motorcycle. One of the examples was my godfather, he loved to travelled using motorcycle. His favorite motorcycle was Honda, I am not sure what type, but I am sure it was not honda shadow 750. Too bad that later on he had some problem with his health that made him could not ride his motorcycle anymore.

My First Shawl

This was my first shawl KIRI. I made this one using DMC cotton thread, which was a wrong choice of yarn. I should use wool yarn insead. I read somewhere that we can not block nicely using cotton yarn because cotton cannot stretch.
